Bodega Cakes x Dr. Idriss

Dr. Idriss is a science-backed skincare line born from viral social media marketing by a leading dermatologist. It has garnered a community of 3M+ skin enthusiasts and is available in 500+ Sephoras.

The ask

Develop a marketing gift to share with editors, influencers, and thought leaders with a focus on:

  • Celebrating the brand’s birthday

  • The Company’s re-brand (PillowTalkDerm -> Dr. Idriss)

  • Celebrating the milestone of launching in 500+ Sephora stores

The goal was to create a wow moment that felt personal, memorable, and unique, leveraging her 3M followers across platforms to generate excitement and brand visibility.

The Approach

Designed custom mini cakes in Dr. Idriss’ signature colors. To elevate the experience, I led creative direction and product sourcing on vintage-inspired pastry boxes, developing mockups and collaborating with their design team. As we were in a time crunch, I sourced printed cardboard boxes as a cost-effective solution to custom-pastry boxes, achieving the desired patisserie-inspired look within the timeline and budget.

The Outcome

While this was a specialty item tailored to a targeted group, its unique design garnered organic social media traction, making it scalable for broader brand recognition. Each gift evoked nostalgic joy while keeping the brand (and their new name) at the heart of the experience.
